Vyan tried to share the gospel with four of his friends multiple times using traditional evangelistic methods, but they always refused to listen. All of that changed when StoryRunners and local speakers produced an oral Bible story set in Vyan’s South Asian language.

Vyan learned how to use these Bible stories in ministry, and he contacted his friends and told them a story. To his surprise, they loved listening and wanted to hear more stories! Since then, each of Vyan’s friends has come to know Jesus; and they meet each week to learn and discuss oral Bible stories.

In order to have the oral Bible story set in Vyan’s language, a StoryRunners team traveled to South Asia and worked with local people to produce a series of oral Bible stories from Creation to the Return of Jesus. The team used headphones, SD cards, recorders, laptops and other equipment as they coached the participants to develop biblically faithful, easily learned and culturally appropriate Bible stories.
